Privacy Policy

Effective 10 August 2026Operated by Kathedro

This policy describes how Kathedro (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and discloses personal data in connection with Compile School, available at compile.school and app.compile.school (the “Service”).

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data — your email address and, where provided, your display name and profile image. Authentication is administered by our provider, Clerk.
  • Usage and progress data — records of your activity within the Service, including lessons and project items completed, quiz and drill results, experience points, streaks, and, where you elect to participate, your leaderboard visibility.
  • Analytics data — where permitted and subject to consent where required, product-analytics information such as the pages and features you access, device and browser characteristics, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not conduct session recording.

How we use it

We use account data to operate your account and keep you signed in. We use progress data to run the Service itself: marking items done, awarding experience points, keeping streaks, and showing your standing on any leaderboard you have joined. We use analytics data to understand which parts of the Service are used and to fix what is not working.

We do not use your personal data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Cookies and analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the Service and maintain your session. Analytics cookies are deployed on the basis of consent where required by applicable law, including within the European Economic Area, and are otherwise enabled by default. We recognise browser-based Global Privacy Control signals.

You can enable or disable analytics for your device at any time from the privacy page inside the app, under your account settings.

Service providers

We engage third-party providers to operate the Service. They process personal data on our behalf under contractual obligations. Where personal data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase or port your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent to analytics. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@compile.school. Individuals in the EEA or United Kingdom may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active and delete it following account closure, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations.

Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for individuals aged 16 and over and is not directed to children below that age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date shown at the top of this page.
