Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account data — your email address and, where provided, your display name and profile image. Authentication is administered by our provider, Clerk.
- Usage and progress data — records of your activity within the Service, including lessons and project items completed, quiz and drill results, experience points, streaks, and, where you elect to participate, your leaderboard visibility.
- Analytics data — where permitted and subject to consent where required, product-analytics information such as the pages and features you access, device and browser characteristics, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not conduct session recording.
How we use it
We use account data to operate your account and keep you signed in. We use progress data to run the Service itself: marking items done, awarding experience points, keeping streaks, and showing your standing on any leaderboard you have joined. We use analytics data to understand which parts of the Service are used and to fix what is not working.
We do not use your personal data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Service providers
We engage third-party providers to operate the Service. They process personal data on our behalf under contractual obligations. Where personal data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication and account management | United States |
| Convex | Application database and progress storage | United States |
| PostHog | Product analytics, subject to consent | United States |
| Vercel | Hosting and content delivery | EU and United States |
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase or port your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent to analytics. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@compile.school. Individuals in the EEA or United Kingdom may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active and delete it following account closure, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for individuals aged 16 and over and is not directed to children below that age.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date shown at the top of this page.
